TOWN COMMITTEE VACANCIES

The Middleburg Town Council is accepting letters of interest from individuals who wish to be considered for service on the following committee:

Health Center Advisory Board. The HCAB is responsible for advising the Town Council regarding the operation and maintenance of the Health Center building, including leasing the facility and the donation of funds. The Boards meets at least once a year and additionally as deemed necessary by the Chairman. Terms are for a two-year period.

Anyone interested in serving is asked to send a letter of interest no later than January 31, 2012 to:

Congressman WolfCoCongressman Wolf's representative, Ms. Donna Lee Crowley, will visit the Town Hall on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Mrs. Crowley will be available to talk with constituents who need assistance or have problems of a Federal nature, such as with the Social Security Administration, Department of Labor, Immigration and Naturalization Service, Internal Revenue Service, Department of Veterans Affairs, etc. Citizens are also welcome to express their opinions on matters of concern, particularly national topics or issues before the United States Congress.

Lyme Disease is epidemic in Northern Virginia with Loudoun County ranking highest in the state and third in the country.  By CDC's own estimate, Lyme disease is under-reported by a factor of 10 which means hundreds of thousands of people may be going un-treated.

EMERGENCY PLANNING TOOLS

Loudoun County has joined eleven other jurisdictions in the Northern Virginia region to help residents and businesses better repond to emergency situations. The region created an online family preparedness planner and an online business preparedness planner. The family preparedness planner allows families to develop an emergency plan, a family communications plan and includes guidelines for developing an emergency survival kit. The business preparedness planner provides a detailed process on how to develop an emergency plan, including continuity of operations, communications plans and identifies the process for returning to their facility after a disaster.
